The cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force has been a prominent part of the Marvel Universe since fans first saw it take Jean Grey as its host in 1976's X-Men #101 by creators Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum. Though the Phoenix pushed Jean's powers far beyond anything that came before, it would later take hold of Jean entirely, transforming her into the unrelenting Dark Phoenix. In the years since, the Phoenix Force has taken on a variety of hosts such as the Avengers' Maya Lopez/Echo. As its history has been expanded, the Phoenix has also been revealed as the true mother of none other than the God of Thunder himself.

Avengers #63 is written by Jason Aaron, with art by Javier Garrón, colors by David Curiel, and letters by VC's Cory Petit. Main cover art is by Jimenez and Garrón, with varaint covers by Peach Momoko, Phil Jimenez, Jim Campbell, and Tom Reilly. Avengers #63 goes on sale Dec. 7 from Marvel Comics.
